Football season is right around the corner, and we can’t wait! While most of these players will be remembered for the plays they make on the field, there are some players that are making a big impact off the field. Recently we spoke with NFL wide-reciever and free agent, Devard Darling about his non-profit charity, the As One Foundation. In 2001, Darling lost his twin brother Devaughn due in part, to the Sickle Cell trait. Since then, he has dedicated himself to giving back to the Fort Bend community where he was raised and his native Nassau, Bahamas via providing scholarships, and hosting annual football camps on the island. Listen to Devard tell us about his upcoming Scholarship ceremony on July 26th, other plans for the As One Foundation, and tips on how to stay safe if you are diagnosed with the Sickle Cell trait. Devard is proof that the moves you make on and off the field are just as important, if not more important than the ones you make on the field.
